The European Union is looking for an alternative way to export 20 million tons of Ukrainian grain. Grain must be urgently exported to countries that need it and free up space for a new harvest.

This was stated by the main EU’s diplomat Josep Borrell to France Info.

According to Borrell, grain can be transported by rail through neighboring countries, while Ukrainian ports remain blocked by russia.

«We are working on it, but the opportunity to deliver 20 million tons to the port on the Black Sea, in Romania and Bulgaria, in the Baltic countries by rail is a trickle», he said.

Russia is blocking Ukrainian ports, so it is currently impossible to export 22 million tons of grain. According to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the problem that could provoke a food crisis around the world can be solved by military means, and therefore he has called on foreign partners to provide Ukraine with the necessary weapons.

The European Commission has decided to set up so-called "solidarity transport lines" to help Ukraine with the export of its own agricultural products.

The British intelligence said that despite attempts by the Ukrainian government and Western partners to find opportunities to create overland logistics routes to export grain from Ukraine, it would not help supply all Ukrainian grain.
