Ukraine's military intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov has told ITV News that he expects a "turning point" in Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine and that "before the end of the year, active fighting will decrease virtually to nothing".

"I have said it before and I'll say it again - before the end of the year, active fighting will decrease virtually to nothing. We are adamant in our view. We will regain control over our territories in the foreseeable future," he added.

He repeated that, as before, the Defence Forces lack weapons.

Despite heavy losses in the east, he is confident that the Defence Forces will be able to repel the russians: "Putin will not achieve success. This is a tragedy to which he led Russia and Ukraine, and it will end in a carastrophe for Russia. Nothing else."

Ukraine will return to its borders of 1991, there will be no other scenarios and we are not considering any other scenarios.
