President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has reacted to the General Staff's decision to oblige people of draftable age, people eligible for military service and reservists to obtain permission from military enlistment offices if they plan to travel outside their region.

In his video address, the president noted that there are "different assessments of such a decision, there is misunderstanding and even indignation in society".

"There has been a lot of controversy in society today over the decision of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff to approve the procedure for obtaining some permits for people of draftable age, people eligible for military service and reservists... I have instructed the defence minister, the chief of the General Staff and the Ukrainian Armed Forces commander-in-chief to report all the details to me tomorrow," Zelenskyy said.

He asked the General Staff not to make such decisions without consulting him in the future.

Earlier on 5 July, the General Staff said that potential conscripts and reservists need permission from their military enlistment office to travel to another region.
