Russian troops have been suffering heavy losses in Luhansk Region, the head of Ukraine's regional military administration, Serhiy Hayday, has said.

"Their losses are quite high. Because some battalion and tactical groups are being pulled back just to replenish their ranks. There are a large number of killed and wounded too. They do not bring in many wounded because hospitals are overfilled, morgues are overcrowded," he said.

Fierce fighting is taking place in the outskirts of Luhansk Region near Lysychansk. The russians have thrown all their forces and reserves here, Hayday said. They are also trying to constantly build crossings in order to bring in even more equipment.

"We can see that the equipment is obsolete. Nevertheless, there is a lot of it. It's clear that the decommissioned equipment is not even T-64s but T-62s," he added.
