The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy counts on the assistance of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) in the release of captured Ukrainian athletes – Zelenskyy’s Twitter account states after a conversation with UEFA President Alecsander Ceferin.
"I had a phone conversation with UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin. I thanked him for his solidarity with Ukraine and the principled position, as well as for his support in restarting UPL (Ukraine). We count on UEFA's assistance in the release of captured Ukrainian athletes," Zelenskyy said.
Earlier, the russian Football Union wrote a complaint to UEFA demanding to disqualify the head coach of the Ukrainian national team Petrakov.
