Commanders from Mariupol's Azovstal, who are staying in Turkey under the terms of the prisoner exchange, have finally met their relatives, according to the presidential website.
The commander of the National Guard regiment Azov, Denys Prokopenko (Redys), his deputy Svyatoslav Palamar, acting commander of the 36th Separate Marine Brigade Serhiy Volynskyy (Volyna), senior Azov officer Oleh Khomenko and commander of the 12th Brigade of the National Guard Denys Shleha are in Turkey under the terms of the prisoner exchange under personal guarantees of protection of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The meeting was organized by head of the presidential office Andriy Yermak with Turkey's assistance.
Yermak, on behalf of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and on his own behalf, expressed gratitude and sincere respect to the Ukrainian servicemen for their courage, valour and resilience.
"We must ensure the release of all those who remain in Russian captivity and behind bars, all those who were forcibly deported. You understand how important it is. People are the most valuable thing in Ukraine. And we are persistently fighting for the return of each of our soldiers and civilians," Yermak said.
First Lady Olena Zelenska also met the liberated Ukrainian commanders.
