An artificial "Christmas tree of invincibility" will be installed in the centre of Kyiv for the New Year. At the same time, there will be no mass entertainment events, Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko wrote in Telegram.
"Dear friends! This year, we will set up a symbolic Christmas tree of invincibility in the capital. The main Christmas tree of the country will be artificial, 12 metres high, decorated with energy-saving garlands that will run on a generator," the mayor wrote.
Near the generator, there will be points for recharging phones and other gadgets. After the holidays, the business that provides the generator and ensures its operation promises to transfer it to the military.
"We will set the main Christmas tree, as usual, in Sofiyska Square. The city will not spend money, the New Year's beauty and decorations for it will be provided by businesses and patrons. The Christmas tree will be decorated with previous years' items. 1000 toys, namely blue and yellow balls, as well as 500 white doves will be provided by the Global Decor company. The top of the Christmas tree will be decorated with the national emblem of Ukraine. The lower part of the tree will be decorated with stands holding flags of the countries that help Kyiv cope with the challenges and consequences of the war," Klitschko added.
According to him, there will be no mass entertainment events, food courts, fairs, or attractions in Sofiyska Square.
