NATO countries continue to discuss a possibility of providing Ukraine with Patriot air defence systems, Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said at the NATO Foreign Ministers Summit in Bucharest on 29 November, Voice of America reports.

"In terms of providing new systems, as for Patriot, there is a discussion about it now. But it is also about ensuring that the systems already provided function and are effective, and for this we must provide spare parts for the repair of systems and ammunition," he said.

Stoltenberg also noted that the dialogue with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba on urgent needs and specific requests brought NATO's assistance to an "unprecedented level".

"It is therefore important that we continue to meet and review specific items on the list [of assistance]. We do this in the framework of NATO meetings as well as the Ramstein meetings," he added.

Earlier, German Defence Minister Christine Lambrecht said Poland's request to send Patriot systems directly to Ukraine should be discussed with NATO.
