On 14 December, the European Parliament adopted in the second reading a decision to allocate macro-financial assistance to Ukraine next year in the amount of 18bn euros, the website of the European Commission reports.
The allocation of the assistance to Ukraine was announced at the plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg before the start of the voting procedure.
"The instrument for providing assistance to Ukraine for 2023, macro-financial assistance. No requests for objections or addenda were made in accordance with Rule 67-78 as regards the proposal of the Council of the EU. Thus, the position of the EU Council is considered adopted and the legislation is adopted. The President (of the European Parliament - ed.) will sign it this afternoon," the chairman of the session said.
Earlier, MEPs approved a regulation that allows the transfer of an assistance package of 18bn euros to Ukraine after Hungary had vetoed the initial proposal.
