Russian mercenaries of the private military company Wagner arrived at the border with Ukraine to stage a provocation, the National Resistance Centre reports.
"The mercenaries are divided into two groups (80-90 people) and arrived in the area of Krupeiki village (Loyev District, Gomel Region) to perform tasks. The groups have lightly armoured vehicles and tented trucks at their disposal. They are reinforced by engineering units," the statement reads.
The Centre mentioned that at the same time Belarus imposed a temporary restriction on entry and exit within the border zone of Loyev District, Gomel Region.
"One of the provocation scenarios is the shelling of the Belarusian territory allegedly by the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the National Resistance Centre noted.
They also clarified that it is about those mercenaries who arrived in Belarus on 20 September. Then 300 units of Ukrainian military uniforms, which the Russians had seized in warehouses in Kherson Region, were delivered to the territory of the Belarusian private security company GardService, where the mercenaries were stationed.
The National Resistance Centre noted that GardService is not just a private security company. It is the first such enterprise in Belarus and was created by a special decree of the self-proclaimed President Alexander Lukashenko in 2019. The "guards" are based on the territory of the former training centre for Belarusian special forces.
As it became known earlier, Russia began to transfer to the south of Belarus the equipment that had been previously brought to the republic's training grounds with the mobilized soldiers.
