This week, auditors from the United States, along with representatives of the World Bank and expert consultants, are working in Kyiv to check the targeted use of financial and security assistance from the United States, CNN reports, citing Victoria Nuland, Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs at the US State Department.

Nuland emphasized that they are making sure that "no aid or weapons are diverted".

"We continue to support the Ukrainian government's important reforms and anti-corruption efforts across the country," Nuland said at a hearing of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Her comments came amid statements by Republican congressmen about the need for additional oversight when it comes to U.S. support for Ukraine. The administration responded by claiming to have the situation under control.

The auditors arrived in the Ukrainian capital when US President Biden announced the provision of Abrams tanks.

State Department spokesman Ned Price said that the recent corruption scandals in Ukraine, which, in particular, led to the resignation of the deputy defence minister, did not involve US aid.
