The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has summoned Hungarian ambassador Istvan Igyarto to protest the recent statements of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
"It was pointed out to the Hungarian diplomat that the anti-Ukrainian rhetoric that has been heard from the Hungarian leadership for a long time is absolutely unacceptable and causes serious damage to Ukrainian-Hungarian relations," the Foreign Ministry's press centre said.
Budapest was also urged to stop "this negative trend" in order to avoid "irreparable consequences" for bilateral relations.
Still, the Foreign Ministry highlighted Kyiv's readiness to develop constructive relations with Hungary.
