The situation in the area of Bakhmut is extremely tense. Despite significant losses, the Russian Federation has sent the most trained assault units of the Wagner Group to the offensive.
They are trying to break through the defences and surround the town, Military Media Centre reports the Land Forces commander Oleksandr Syrskyy as saying.
"In the battles for Bakhmut, our soldiers have shown numerous examples of resilience, courage and heroism," he emphasized.
According to the General Staff, on 23 February, Russia sent up to 200 additional special forces to the Bakhmut area to prevent desertions and sabotage.
