Ukraine will receive more Leopard 2 battle tanks from its Western partners, Handelsblatt has reported.

In particular, Denmark and the Netherlands have financed the purchase of 14 tanks to be supplied by Rheinmetall. The company has not yet commented on this.

The paper noted that this support may sent an important signal to Ukraine as the first German-made battle tanks were reportedly damaged during the offensive.

In addition to models from the USA, France and the UK, Kyiv is relying heavily on German-made Leopards.

Contracts for new deliveries have already been signed. Two states have provided a three-digit million-dollar sum. The German federal government was also involved, as it has to give its approval for the export of military equipment.

Amid reports of destroyed or damaged Leopard 2 tanks in Ukraine, Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said that Germany plans to increase the supply of repaired Leopard 1 tanks for Ukraine's needs. At the same time, Germany and Poland are approaching an agreement to establish a service centre for the repair of Leopard battle tanks and other equipment.
