Ukraine's Armed Forces have shot down a Russian Ka-52 Alligator helicopter, the second one this morning, the 47th Separate Mechanised Brigade has said on Facebook.
At around 7.40 a.m., a fire team of an air defence artillery battalion detected the Alligator in the area of Robotyne in Zaporizhzhya Region and shot it down from a MANPAD.
"This is the eighth Ka-52 downed for good on the score of our troops. Each costs 16m dollars," the brigade said.
The Ka-52 helicopter is designed for reconnaissance, targeting and coordination of a group of combat helicopters. It can engage armoured and unarmoured vehicles, manpower and air targets on the battlefield.
This morning, an air defence unit of Ukraine's Air Force destroyed a Russian Ka-52 helicopter in the Bakhmut sector, Donetsk Region.
