President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy will discuss the protection of alternative grain corridors with Bulgarian Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov, reported the President's Office press service.
"I expressed gratitude to Bulgaria for its defence and political support. Productive talks with Nikolay Denkov took place yesterday in the framework of the Ukraine-Balkans summit. We discussed further cooperation, Black Sea security, and the protection of alternative "grain corridors," the statement said.
The Head of State added that negotiations with the Balkan colleagues would continue today.
In July, Zelenskyy lambasted the Bulgarian president for his pro-Russian position on the war in Ukraine: "You cannot support Russia and maintain a balancing position because Russia wants to destroy NATO."
The Wall Street Journal recently reported that the United States is developing alternative routes for grain exports from Ukraine. The plan, which is supported by the Americans, involves the transportation of food via the Danube.
In late September and early October, Bulgaria will start transferring armored vehicles to Ukraine. Bulgaria may transfer about 100 units of Soviet-style armored vehicles to Ukraine.
Bulgaria joined the declaration of the Group of Seven countries on security guarantees to Ukraine: "Ukraine defends the freedom, security and sovereignty of all European states".
