To protect critical infrastructure in the early winter and provide further military support, Germany is providing Ukraine with additional air defence systems - Patriot, IRIS-T and Cheetah, according to the website of the German Ministry of Defence.
According to Defence Minister Boris Pistorius, the new "winter package" is expected to increase the operational readiness of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the coming months.
This air defence package alone is worth about 1bn euros.
Germany is also preparing to donate vehicles, weapons and personal equipment for Ukrainian soldiers worth more than €20 million.
There will also be 155-mm ammunition. Ten more Leopard 1A5 battle tanks, three Gepard anti-aircraft guns, 15 armoured vehicles and almost 20 medevacs are expected to be supplied in the coming weeks.
In addition, it is expected that 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers will have been trained in Germany by the end of 2023.
