By the end of the year, Germany will transfer two additional IRIS-T air defence systems to Ukraine. According to German Ambassador to Ukraine Martin Jäger, Germany is interested in building long-term strategic relations with Ukraine. The German ambassador spoke about this at the "Formula for Ukraine's Success" forum, Ukrinform reports.
The diplomat said that Germany and Ukraine had agreed to supply additional Patriot and IRIS-T systems. By the end of the year, it is planned to supply Ukraine with two more IRIS-T air defence systems in addition to the three previously delivered.
"This is important for better protection of Ukrainian cities from Russian missiles," the ambassador stressed.
Jäger also stressed that the German defence industry is interested in building long-term strategic relations with your country. The support is mainly directed to the air defence industry.
"We are also making a significant contribution to strengthening Ukraine's energy systems, in particular, we are talking about supporting energy capabilities. We believe it is very important that this winter passes without any power outages [in Ukraine]," the diplomat said.
