The military command has come up with the figure of 400,000 to 500,000 people that need to be mobilised based on current needs and the needs for 2024, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhnyy has said on the air of the news telethon.

"Let's start by saying that the military command has not made any request for any figures and so on. The military command continues to perform the function of defending its state and forms its requests accordingly: requests for ammunition, weapons and, accordingly, human resources," he said.

"This is done on an ongoing basis and not in any separate format or by request to the Cabinet of Ministers or the Verkhovna Rada - we do not do this. We exercise our powers in accordance with the scope of our functions," Zaluzhnyy added.

The Commander-in-Chief also noted that the figure of "400,000 to 500,000 to be mobilised" was formed for the whole of next year.

"As for this figure iself, we have formed it for the next year. Of course, it takes into account the coverage of the current shortage that has arisen; the formation of new military units and also the forecasting of our losses... Accordingly, I cannot announce the figure for any section of these indicators, because it is a military secret," Zaluzhnyy said.
