Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba had a telephone conversation with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

Kuleba noted on Twitter that these were his first talks in 2024. He told the Indian external affairs minister about Russia's recent air attacks and discussed further cooperation on the Ukrainian peace formula.

"We have agreed to hold the first meeting of the India-Ukraine Intergovernmental Commission since 2018 in the near future. The restoration of this basic mechanism of our bilateral relations will allow us to move forward together in a comprehensive manner," Kuleba said.

Jaishankar, for his part, called the conversation "useful" and noted that it focused on bilateral cooperation in the new year.

The parties also exchanged views on the conflict in Ukraine.

India hosted the Group of 20 summit in 2023. Russian President Vladimir Putin, whose arrest warrant was issued by the ICC, did not attend the event in person. Instead, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov attended.

Kyiv did not receive an invitation to the G20 summit in New Delhi, but its participants supported Ukraine, although they failed to reach an agreement to condemn Moscow's actions.
