After signing a security agreement with the United Kingdom, the British army will not fight alongside Ukraine. However, under the agreement, Ukraine will be provided with military equipment, the deputy head of the presidential office, Ihor Zhovkva, has said on the air of the news telethon, Dzerkalo Tyzhnya reports.
According to Zhovkva, the agreement between the UK and Ukraine was signed for a decade. It stipulates that during this period, Ukraine will receive military assistance from Britain.
"We are not talking about soldiers, but we can not only request the amount of equipment, but we are confident that we will receive it," he said.
This agreement will be valid for at least 10 years. In case Ukraine joins NATO earlier, the security mechanisms laid down in the agreement with London will be embedded into the security mechanism that exists in the Alliance for member states.
