The election campaign in the United States has had an impact, but in general, the United States' support for Ukraine has not changed, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, has said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
"Today, we have full support from both parties in Congress. I emphasise that I met the Speaker of the House of Representatives in Washington twice. Then we held these meetings together with President Zelenskyy. We came back feeling positive. We don't feel that the United States' support for Ukraine has changed in any way," Yermak said.
"But, of course, they (the US - Ed.) have already entered the period of the presidential election. They have their own internal phenomena, but their attitude towards us has not changed. And it seems to me that the level of support from them is still very high," he said.
Answering the question about the impact of Donald Trump's point of view on the Republicans' position, Yermak noted that "it is very important to distinguish between election rhetoric and concrete steps. But we know exactly where the Americans stand, and any government or political leader is always guided by the opinion of its people. The level of support from the American people is very high."
