Ukraine received 36 points out of 100 in the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) for 2023 and ranked 104th among 180 countries, Transparency International Ukraine reports.
Ukraine's three-point increase is one of the best results in the world over the past year. Also, Ukraine became one of 17 countries in this year's CPI that demonstrated its best score ever.
Algeria, Brazil, and Serbia also received 36 points in this year's study. One point ahead of Ukraine are Albania, Argentina, Belarus, Gambia, Ethiopia, and Zambia, all of which have 37 points. Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Dominican Republic, Egypt, Nepal, Panama, Sierra Leone, Thailand are one point behind Ukraine.

Among its neighbours, Ukraine is even further ahead of Russia - the terrorist country lost two points in 2023 and ranks 141st on the list with 26 points. In addition, Belarus' score continues to decline - it also lost two points this year, and although it continues to outperform Ukraine, its tendency to sink in the CPI remains. Among our western neighbours, Romania's score remained unchanged (46 points, 63rd place), while Poland lost another point but remained one of the leaders in the CPI among our neighbours - with 54 points, it ranks 47th. But now Poland shares this position with Slovakia, which has added one point over the year and also scored 54 points. And Moldova, like Ukraine, added three points and caught up with Hungary, whose score remained unchanged, allowing them to share 76th place with 42 points.
