On 31 January, a fire broke out near the Belbek airfield in the north of Sevastopol, and a column of smoke rose into the sky, the Krymsky Veter (Crimean Wind) Telegram channel reported.

The Russians complained about a massive missile attack from Ukraine and said they had allegedly shot down all air targets.

Later, Krymsky Veter reported that there were "good hits" at the airfield.

Later, the commander of the Ukrainian Air Force, Mykola Oleshchuk, posted a message on Telegram in which he commented on the situation around Belbek.

"Did you know that the Air Force of Ukraine has the 204th Sevastopol Tactical Aviation Brigade? So, its regular base is the Belbek airfield! Ukrainian aviators will definitely return home to their airfield. In the meantime, I thank everyone who contributed to the cleansing of Crimea from the Russian presence!" Oleshchuk said.
