Today, 31 January, members of the city council removed the mayor of Sumy from his duties, the head of the Sumy city military administration, Oleksiy Drozdenko, has said.
He noted that today the city council approved the new composition of the executive committee.
"They also expressed no confidence and removed Oleksandr Lysenko from the post of mayor by secret ballot," Drozdenko wrote.
· On 2 October 2023, NABU, SBU and SAPO officers caught Sumy mayor Oleksandr Lysenko and the director of the city council department red-handed while they were taking a bribe.
· They were exposed while receiving the last tranche of UAH 1.4 million out of a total bribe of UAH 2.13 million. The money was in exchange for setting a certain tariff and not creating artificial obstacles in the company's operations.
· The High Anti-Corruption Court removed Oleksandr Lysenko from office as mayor of Sumy.
· On 26 October 2023, the office of the acting mayor of Sumy, Yuliya Pavlyk, at the Sumy city council was searched.
