The head of the Defence Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov, said that the military leadership has a plan aimed at reducing Russia's military potential and hopes that attacks on Russian territory will continue. This is stated in the material of The Washington Post.
The newspaper notes that in order to counter the Russians, Budanov is planning new cross-border attacks by "Russian volunteers" operating inside Russia with the support of the DIU, as well as new drone attacks.
"We have proposed a plan aimed at reducing Russia's potential. It covers many aspects, for example, the military industry... critical military targets, their airfields, their command and control centres," Budanov said.
The purpose of such attacks, he said, is to show that Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin cannot protect the population from the penetration of war into the territory of the Russian Federation.
"When you are sitting, say, in St. Petersburg, and you see the war only on TV, you will always support it. ... But people get nervous when an object (is attacked) near their home," Budanov explained.
When asked by the journalist whether Ukrainian attacks would continue on Russian territory, Budanov replied: "I hope it will work.”
