Madrid will not relocate one of its three Patriots missile systems to Ukraine, instead committing to send only missiles to the system.
This was reported by the Spanish newspaper El Pais.
The number of missiles that Ukraine will receive will be very limited, as the Spanish reserve is less than 50 missiles and they are very expensive - each is estimated at more than a million euros.
The decision was made under pressure from NATO and the European Union, as well as after the Spanish Ministry of Defence refused to hand over to Kyiv a battery it had deployed on the border of Turkey and Syria.
Spain has three Patriots systems that it purchased from Germany. Turkey has had one of them since 2013.
