The first foreign representative office of the State Concern UkrOboronProm was opened today in Washington, DC. Its main task is to strengthen cooperation between Ukraine and the United States in the defence industry.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Strategic Industries of Ukraine.
The representative office will search for investment opportunities and potential military and technical partners in the United States. One of the priorities will be the latest military technologies, their search and effective implementation. It will also ensure interaction between Ukrainian and foreign teams to manage joint ventures.
In particular, this includes interaction with local businesses and expert organisations, cooperation with government agencies and defence organisations, and support for UOP projects in the US and partner countries.
"We are interested in deepening cooperation with American weapons manufacturers, which promotes technology transfer, development of joint projects and investment. This may include ammunition, air and missile defence systems, electronic warfare, etc. We have a lot to offer our overseas colleagues, as Ukrainian specialists have a unique and successful experience in the production and restoration of weapons and military equipment gained during the full-scale war with the Russian invaders," said UOP Director General Herman Smetanin during the opening ceremony.
Minister of Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshin reminded that Ukrainian companies already have a number of agreements in principle with their American counterparts.
"The presence of Ukroboronprom's representative office in the United States will speed up their implementation and strengthen the integration of Ukrainian defence into NATO's defence industrial base," the Minister added.
The opening ceremony was attended by the teams of the Ministry of Defence, Ukroboronprom and representatives of US government agencies.
