First Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Oleksandr Pavlyuk attended a closed meeting of NATO commanders held in Dresden on 27-29 August, BILD reports.

The event was attended by representatives of 35 countries, mostly from Europe - generals from the Netherlands, Estonia, Spain, the UK, Sweden, Albania, Greece, and others.

New models of German military equipment were presented at the meeting.

The participants got acquainted, in particular, with such installations as the Skyranger 30 air defence system for combating drones. It can shoot down UAVs with a 30 mm cannon within a radius of three kilometres and four Stinger missiles up to nine kilometres. These air defences were ordered by Austria, Hungary and Denmark.

The company also presented the RCH-155 remote-controlled howitzer, which can be fired on the move at speeds of up to 30 km/h, with a range of 54 km and a rate of fire of up to nine rounds per minute. The first 54 howitzers will be delivered to Ukraine in 2025.

German Army Inspector Alfons Meiss said that the Ukrainian war has seen the active use of drones, which are now ‘omnipresent on the battlefield’.

‘That is why we all have to confront this new threat from the air,’ the German lieutenant general said.
