The Russian army is intensifying efforts to break through Ukrainian defences in the south of the Donetsk Region, near the border with Dnipropetrovsk Region. This area, known as the Prydniprovsky direction, has seen increased reconnaissance and preparations for assault operations.
Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesman for the Southern Defence Forces, reported that Russian troops are focusing on the Orikhiv and Hulyaypole directions. “It is highly likely that the enemy will launch assault operations in an attempt to breach our defences,” Voloshyn stated, as reported by Army.Inform.
Russian forces are training small infantry groups for assault missions, transferring ammunition, conducting aerial reconnaissance with UAVs, and performing engineering reconnaissance to map out potential routes of advance.
“The enemy is actively targeting previously scouted positions to locate and suppress our firepower, aiming to clear the way for assault operations,” Voloshyn added.
Over the past day, Russian forces used military equipment mainly for transporting infantry and supporting their assaults with fire when necessary.
One of the key areas of focus is near Velyka Novosilka, one of the largest settlements in the Prydniprovskyy sector, where Russian forces are attempting to break through.
