French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot has confirmed that Ukraine is permitted to use French long-range missiles against Russia, according to the BBC.
The Minister stated that Ukraine could launch missiles at Russia “in self-defence.” However, Barrot did not specify whether such incidents had already occurred.
“The principle has been established… our messages to President Zelenskyy have been well received,” Barrot said.
He emphasised that Western allies should not restrict their support for Ukraine in its conflict with Russia and “should not set or draw red lines.”
When asked whether this could imply France’s involvement in the war, Barrot said, “We do not rule out any option.”
“We will support Ukraine as intensively and as long as necessary. Because our security is at stake,” the diplomat stressed.
- Recently, the US State Department confirmed that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are allowed to attack targets in Russia with Western missiles.
- Meanwhile, Britain has not yet officially confirmed the use of its missiles against targets in Russia.
