Russian strike on Kharkiv injures 23, damages dozens of buildings

On Monday morning, Russia attacked the central part of Kharkiv, targeting the Kyiv district. The strike occurred at around 8:31 a.m., with emergency services arriving at the scene five minutes later, according to Oleh Synyehubov, head of the Regional Military Administration.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that a fire broke out following the attack. By 11:30 a.m., 23 people had been confirmed injured.

“Fourteen people are hospitalised. Among them, five are in the surgical department, five are receiving outpatient treatment, and two are undergoing neurosurgical evaluation. Two more are still being examined,” local authorities stated.

The strike caused extensive damage, hitting the courtyards of residential high-rise buildings and affecting more than 40 houses.

“The hit occurred in the central part of the city, an area with dense residential buildings. Outbuildings and cars caught fire,” said Terekhov.

The Regional Military Administration reported that three cars and the facade of a two-storey non-residential building were set ablaze, while windows in nearby homes were shattered.

Preliminary assessments indicate that Russian forces used S-400 systems to carry out the attack.
