President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced new personnel changes in the military leadership. During a press conference on the occasion of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz's visit to Kyiv, the president said that this was due to the need for reforms.
According to the President, these are not the last reshuffles. ‘They will be, because we need to move faster.’
‘I recently presented a resilience plan. First of all, within our state. And the defence capability, our army is one of the priority points, in addition to unity and other points of this plan. There are specific reforms and specific decisions. These specific decisions are made by specific people,’ he said.
Recently, the President replaced the commander of the Land Forces: instead of Oleksandr Pavlyuk, it was Mykhaylo Drapatyy, the commander of the Kholodnyy Yar brigade. He also appointed Oleh Apostol as deputy head of the General Staff.
