On the night of 6 January, Ukrainian air defence forces shot down two Russian X-59 guided missiles and 79 Russian drones. Another 49 drones were lost in the area.
According to the Air Force, Russians attacked with two X-59 guided missiles from the south and 128 Shahed-type strike UAVs and various types of imitation drones from the directions of Bryansk, Millerovo, Orel, Kursk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia.
As of 09.00, two X-59 guided missiles and 79 Shahed attack UAVs and other types of drones were confirmed being downed in Mykolayiv, Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Kirovohrad and Vinnytsya Regions. No hits were recorded.
49 Russian decoy drones were lost in the area (without any negative consequences).
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and the Defence Forces of Ukraine.
The debris of the downed Russian drones caused damage to the buildings of enterprises, institutions and private homes in Chernihiv, Sumy, Cherkasy, Poltava and Kyiv Regions. No casualties were reported.
