General Staff confirms damage to oil refinery in Ryazan

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has confirmed the drone strike on an oil refinery in Ryazan.

"Units of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, in cooperation with other components of the Defence Forces, on the night of 24 February 2025, struck the Ryazan oil refinery in the Ryazan Region, which is involved in the supply of the Russian occupation army," the General Staff said in a statement. 

At least 5 explosions were reported in the area of the target. Preliminarily, a fire broke out in the area of the primary oil processing unit ELOU AT-6.

The results of the damage are being clarified.

In addition, yesterday, units of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine hit an oil depot - a fire was recorded in the area of the 8 March plant in the Tula region of the Russian Federation.

"Combat operations against strategic targets involved in supporting Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine will continue. To be continued...", the General Staff said. 

  • Earlier, Russia reported the third drone attack on the Ryazan oil refinery since the beginning of the year.
  • This plant was attacked on the night of 24 January, and then on 26 January.
  • The Ryazan refinery is one of the largest in Russia, with a refining capacity of 17 million tonnes of oil per year. According to sources, at least three tanks are on fire as a result of the attack.
