President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine is ready to exchange all prisoners for all prisoners, and Russia must release Ukrainians who have been held captive not only since 2022 but also since 2014.
The President said this during the opening of the Support Ukraine plenary session.
Zelenskyy stressed that the end of the war should begin with steps "that restore confidence in the situation itself, because there is no confidence in Russia".
"And now such a step can be the release of thousands of prisoners, thousands of people held in Russia. And some of them have been held in Russia not only since 2014, but much earlier, since 2014, when Russia should have released Ukrainians. Ukraine is ready to exchange all for all, and this is a fair option," Zelenskyy said.
As for the negotiations, he noted that Ukraine should be at the negotiating table together with Europe.
"Russia's strategic target is Europe, the European way of life, and therefore its security and the fate of Europe cannot be determined without Europe... Ukraine, Europe, together with America, must be at the negotiating table opposite Russia so that the need for peace is not again conspired with promises of normalisation, reset or reconciliation," Zelenskyy said.
