Within minutes of the start of Wednesday, 6 May, explosions were heard in Dnipro. The Russians thus immediately violated the potential ceasefire proposed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Just before midnight, the Air Force warned that attack drones were heading towards Dnipro. Eyewitnesses in the regional centre and surrounding suburbs reported explosions, resembling strikes, at intervals of approximately five minutes after the start of the new day.
At 00:36, a report also emerged of an enemy UAV in the Kharkiv Region near Izyum, confirming the Russians’ lack of intention to observe the ceasefire.
Zelenskyy declared a “silence regime” at midnight on Wednesday in response to the Kremlin’s statement regarding a halt to hostilities on 8–9 May. The President stressed that human lives are more important than “holidays”.
The rhetoric surrounding a “ceasefire” emerged in Moscow amid concerns over potential Ukrainian strikes during Putin’s “Victory Day parade” on Red Square. This year, military equipment will not take part “for security reasons”.
