Logistics lockdown. Defence forces to step up mid-range strikes against Russia

The number of assaults is directly linked to the occupiers’ logistical capacity.

Mykhaylo Fedorov said that the Defence Forces are launching a separate programme called “Logistics Lockdown” to scale up mid-strike capabilities and systematically destroy Russian operational-depth capabilities. The goal is to increase pressure on Russian forces in the rear and deprive them of the ability to conduct active offensive operations.

He noted that Ukraine is gradually seizing the initiative on the battlefield, while the cost of advancing for Russian forces continues to rise.

“While in October the enemy was losing 67 soldiers per 1 km² of advance, in April it was already 179. Russia is suffering record losses: more than 35,000 killed or seriously wounded per month — and we continue to increase the pace,” Fedorov said.

According to him, over recent months Ukrainian defenders have quadrupled the disruption of Russian logistics, equipment, command posts and supply routes in operational depth. The more Russian logistics are destroyed, the fewer assaults take place.

One of the key factors behind this shift, the minister said, has been strategic decisions to scale up mid-strike capabilities. He added that after Russia lost access to Starlink, this became another factor reinforcing Ukraine’s technological advantage on the battlefield.

The Ministry of Defence and the General Staff have allocated an additional 5 billion for the procurement of modern mid-strike systems. The funding will go to the most effective brigades and units under the ePoints system, particularly those specialising in destroying Russian forces at operational depth. The first units have already received funding, and procurement has begun. At the same time, large-scale tenders for strike systems are being launched.
