During the night of 20 May, Russian forces launched a strike drone attack on Konotop in the Sumy Region. A five-storey residential building in the city was hit.
As Mayor Anton Semenikhin reported on Telegram, part of the building’s entrance section was destroyed. People were inside at the time, and some are believed to be trapped under the rubble. The district hospital and a museum were also damaged, while numerous windows in administrative buildings and residential flats were shattered.
As of 8:27 a.m., eight people had been reported injured.
“Work is ongoing to deal with the aftermath of the attacks. People are also being evacuated from damaged and neighbouring buildings,” said Oleh Hryhorov.
The State Emergency Service added that the damaged buildings include the local history museum.
