The collection brings together poems written between 1993 and 2020, as well as short prose pieces. The texts were selected by the author, while the translation was completed by Lublin-based poet, cultural researcher and publicist Oleksandra Zinczuk, reports Polish Radio.

The book was previously published in Ukrainian by ist publishing under the title Permanent Residence. Dedicated to Kharkiv, it features graphic works by the artist Pavlo Makov alongside poems selected by the writer Serhiy Zhadan.

“This book really captivated me,” says Oleksandra Zinczuk. “It was exceptionally beautiful as an artistic artefact, but also fascinating because of the poet’s thoughtful selection of texts connected to a beloved place of residence, where the theme of homeland emerges and movement and travel are simultaneously present. These motifs recur throughout the collection, alongside reflections on a place that remains close to one’s heart.”

According to Zinczuk, “in a time of dispersion, mass migration and flight from war, when countless people are once again searching for their place in the world, it is important to ask ourselves: what does home mean?”
