Repin was awarded the title of “People’s Artist of the Russian Federation” by Russian President Vladimir Putin in April 2022. He is also the husband of Svetlana Zakharova, a prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Theatre and a former member of the Russian State Duma representing the United Russia party.

LB.ua contacted the Ukrainian Embassy in Slovenia for comment on its response to the announced event.

“The Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Slovenia is aware of Vadim Repin’s planned performanceeas part of the Ljubljana Festival 2026. We are currently examining this matter and taking appropriate steps within the remit of the diplomatic mission,” the embassy said in its response.
