Voloshyn Gallery will present the installation “Alarm (Siren and Mast)” by artist Nikita Kadan in the Unlimited sector of Art Basel 2026. The section is curated by Ruba Katrib.

“Alarm (Siren and Mast)” is a sound installation combining elements of opera with the signal of an air-raid siren. The work reinterprets the sound of air-raid alerts through a reference to the sirens of ancient Greek mythology, according to Artslooker.

The installation consists of a circular semi-transparent white veil and a metal rod placed at its centre. The sound travels in waves, alternating with short pauses. The sound composition was created by composers Roman Grygoriv and Illia Razumeiko, and performed by Ukrainian mezzo-soprano Olena Belkina.

The title of the work references the Ukrainian word “tryvoha”, which denotes both an air-raid warning signal and a state of anxiety.

The installation was previously shown in Kyiv at the exhibition “Siren Sickle Satellite” at the National Art Museum of Ukraine.
