For three years, Kateryna Yegorushkina travelled through frontline and liberated territories and visited accommodation centres for Ukrainian refugees abroad, collecting testimonies about the wartime experiences of civilians and military personnel, children and adults alike.
Based on these testimonies, she wrote the book And Then Our House Became a Ship. Stories About the Emotional Legacy of War, which is now beginning to appear in foreign-language translations.
During the meeting in Stockholm, the writer will speak about narrative therapy, War Diaries by Astrid Lindgren, and ways of supporting children in coping with traumatic experiences.
Kateryna Yegorushkina is a Ukrainian writer, literary scholar, TEDx speaker and author of more than twenty books, the rights to which have been sold in eleven countries, including the USA, the UK, Denmark, Sweden and Germany. Her works have received numerous awards and critical acclaim.
Her book My Forced Holidays was published in Sweden and received the Silver Star of the Peter Pan Award from IBBY Sweden in 2024.
The event will be moderated by journalist Tord Eriksson.
