Newly appointed Secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council Ihor Klymenko has outlined his immediate tasks in the role following his appointment by a decree of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

He wrote about it on Facebook.

"I am grateful for the high trust during this decisive period for the country. Ahead lies great responsibility and a lot of work to strengthen the state’s internal resilience," he wrote.

According to Klymenko, the main priorities include ensuring unity of action among all components of the security and defense sector, strengthening oversight of the implementation of NSDC decisions, and developing a strategic forecasting system to respond in a timely manner to security threats.

Unity of Action

Synchronized work, clear coordination, and оперативний information exchange among all components of the security and defense sector.

Oversight of Implementation

Conducting a thorough audit of the implementation of adopted NSDC decisions and systematic oversight of their execution. Decisions must not remain on paper, but be fully implemented and within the set deadlines.

Strategic Forecasting

Risk analysis, prevention, and rapid response to new security challenges — from the situation at the front to protecting critical infrastructure, cyberspace, and countering disinformation.

"The state’s resilience is built through the daily coordinated work of every agency and every specialist. We are working toward a single result — Ukraine’s security and the protection of people," Klymenko noted.
