Ukraine’s Defence Forces struck the Ilsky and Syzran oil refineries and an observation post on the Syvash drilling platform.
The strikes on Russian targets were confirmed by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“On the night of 8 August 2026, as part of efforts to reduce the military and economic potential of the Russian aggressor, units of Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck a number of important enemy targets,” the General Staff said in a statement.
In particular, LLC Ilsky Oil Refinery in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai was hit. A strike on the facility was recorded, followed by a fire on the company’s premises.

Ilsky Oil Refinery has six processing units with a total throughput capacity of about 6.6 million tonnes of oil per year. The company receives, stores, and processes hydrocarbon feedstock, and produces and ships petroleum products. Its output is used, among other things, to meet the needs of the Russian armed forces.
JSC Syzran Oil Refinery in Syzran, Samara Region, Russia, was also hit. A strike on the facility was recorded, followed by a fire on the company’s premises.
Syzran Oil Refinery is part of Rosneft’s oil complex. The plant’s design capacity is about 8.5 million tonnes of oil per year. It produces more than 20 types of petroleum products, including motor fuels and road bitumen. The facility is one of the key assets of Samara Region’s refining industry and supplies fuel, among other things, for the needs of the Russian armed forces.
In addition, a Russian technical observation post was hit on the self-elevating drilling platform Syvash in the Black Sea.
The Syvash jack-up drilling platform is used by the Russians to deploy technical surveillance equipment and ensure its operation in the Black Sea.
The extent of the damage and the results of the strikes on Russian targets are being clarified.
Ukraine’s Defence Forces will continue to carry out systematic measures aimed at ending the armed aggression of the Russian Federation.
