On the night of August 16, Russian forces attacked Ukraine’s largest steelworks, ArcelorMittal Kryvyy Rih, with missiles. Two people were killed in the strike, and 13 employees of the plant were injured.

The company reported this.

Following the Russian attack on the plant, key production facilities in the power and blast-furnace operations were damaged.

Some production processes at the facility have been suspended. Specialists are currently assessing the extent of the damage and the impact of the strike on the plant’s operations.

ArcelorMittal Kryvyy Rih stressed that the facility is a civilian mining and metallurgical industry site and condemned the Russian attack.

According to Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the Kryvyy Rih Defense Council, Russia attacked the city overnight with ballistic missiles and strike drones.

The attack damaged 13 apartment buildings, a medical center, a lyceum, and shops. Rescuers recovered the body of another victim from the rubble—a 44-year-old man.
