Overnight, Russia launched ballistic missiles at Kryvyy Rih, Poltava Region and Kyiv, the Air Force reported.
Explosions were first heard in Kryvyy Rih. The regional governor said industrial facilities were targeted. As of the morning, one person was reported killed and more than 10 injured.
The military also warned of missiles heading towards Kremenchuk. The missile threat came in two waves. Damage was reported in the Kremenchuk community.
After this wave of attacks, a ballistic threat from Bryansk was added to the threat from Voronezh. Explosions were heard in the capital, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said.
As of the morning of 16 August, according to the Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA), the number of injured people has risen to three.
Fires and damage were also reported in Obolonskyy and Holosiyivskyy districts.
Obolonskyy District: A large fire broke out at a market. It is the book market formerly known as “Petrivka”. Two people were injured. At another location, a building sustained minor damage from the blast wave, with no fire reported. At a third address, a non-residential building was hit.
Holosiyivskyy District: A fire broke out at a non-residential building. Firefighters brought the blaze under control.
In Kyiv, as of 9:35 a.m., firefighters had extinguished all fires caused by the overnight Russian attack in the Obolonskyy and Holosiyivskyy districts of the capital.
Crews are currently dismantling and dousing the affected structures.
