Government Question Time scheduled for today has been postponed until 12 October. The Verkhovna Rada press service said this was agreed at the Conciliation Council with representatives of parliamentary factions and groups.
At the meeting, First Deputy Speaker Oleksandr Korniyenko and representatives of factions and groups heard from Education and Science Minister Andriy Butenko. He briefed them on how schools are organising their work during different types of air-raid alert.
“In particular, this concerned action algorithms for pupils and teachers during yellow and red danger levels. During the Conciliation Council meeting, a wide range of issues was raised related to organising the educational process and ensuring proper conditions for pupils and teaching staff,” the statement said.
Earlier, MPs from various factions spoke about the sudden cancellation of the traditional Government Question Time. Iryna Herashchenko (European Solidarity) said MPs only learned there would be no sitting today when they arrived at the Verkhovna Rada. It had been planned that the education minister would speak during Government Question Time.
“MPs came to the Verkhovna Rada and, as they say, found the door shut. A security guard said parliament was closed, the Servants had gone to the Carpathian Forum, so someone decided simply to cancel the plenary sitting. Without informing either the factions or faction leadership, without a conciliation meeting,” the MP said.
Yaroslav Zheleznyak also said MPs were told about the cancellation only this morning.
Today, the ‘Carpathian Eight’ summit begins in Bukovel, with guests from seven countries taking part.
