Russia attacked Ukraine overnight on 19 September with two anti-ship missiles and 174 strike drones of various types. Air defence forces neutralised 141 enemy aerial targets.
This was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force.
"On the night of 19 September (from 18:00 on 18 September), the enemy attacked with two Zircon anti-ship missiles from Russia’s Kursk region, 174 Shahed-type strike UAVs (half of them jet-powered), Gerbera drones, Banderol/Dan-T loitering munitions, and Parodiya-type decoy drones from the following directions: Oryol, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk – Russia; temporarily occupied Donetsk; Hvardiiske – temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea," the statement said.
The main directions of the strike were Odesa region and Kyiv region.
The air attack was repelled by aircraft, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine’s Defence Forces.
According to preliminary data, as of 08:00, air defence forces shot down 141 targets:
- 3 Banderol/Dan-T;
- 138 enemy Shahed-type UAVs, Gerbera drones and drones of other types.
Enemy air attack weapons were recorded hitting 15 locations, and downed debris falling at 9 locations.
The enemy missiles did not reach their targets; information on the crash site is being уточнюється.
"The attack is ongoing; there are more than ten enemy UAVs in the airspace. Follow safety rules," the Air Force stressed.
