Russian troops on the South Slobozhanshchyna front have begun using assault units that sometimes consist of just one person. This is linked to their inability to cross the Ukrainian kill zone in larger groups.
Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for the Joint Forces Grouping, said this during a TV broadcast, Ukrinform reports.
According to him, Russian forces previously tried to advance in groups of four or five soldiers; later, their numbers fell to two or three, and now there are cases where a single soldier goes in to assault.
"Attacks by small groups are constant, but if a year ago we were talking about groups of four or five people, then two or three, now there are groups that you can’t really call a group, because a group is several people, and sometimes it’s just one," Trehubov said.

He said lone soldiers are trying to cross certain sections of the kill zone in this way and hide in prepared shelters. After that, the next Russian troops try to reach them.
"Of course, they move like this only to cross some stretch of the kill zone, then squeeze into some hole, and then the next unfortunate makes the same dashes to the same hole. There, in that hole, they coordinate somehow and from there they will move on in a more organised way," the spokesperson explained.
Trehubov added that Ukrainian troops are increasingly spotting lone Russian assault troops.
"These solitary, Russian-origin ‘trees’ are trying to advance on the principle of ‘one man in the field is a warrior’," he noted.
